Movies to watch before you die
By Sagar Kamalam | Posted on Oct 02 2025.
To begin with, whenever we want to watch a movie, we either plan it, go by reviews, take recommendations, or sometimes watch it just because we're fans of something - like the hero, heroine, director, or someone else involved.
Aren’t we?
In the same way, in this blog, I’ve gathered some films that will make you feel good, inspired, and even fascinated by science fiction. Am I right? (Laughs.) At least I tried! So, let’s take a look one by one.
Hidden Figures (2016)
Directed by: Theodore Melfi
When I came to know about this film, I wondered how I had missed it for so long. It highlights gender inequality and racism in the USA and is based on a true story from the 1960s. The film explores the challenges faced by women at NASA. Best watched with your girlfriends — a true inspiration. That’s all I can say.
Don’t miss it!
Arrival (2016)
Directed by: Denis Villeneuve
The film follows a linguist enlisted by the U.S. Army to communicate with extraterrestrial beings who have arrived on Earth, before tensions lead to war. It’s based on the 1998 short story “Story of Your Life” by Ted Chiang. A true classic in both narration and screen presence. Highly recommended.
Don’t miss it!
Lion (2016)
Directed by: Garth Davis
In simple words, this film is about the journey of life — where we come from and where we end up. It takes us through many ups and downs before finally finding its way home. Interestingly, it also showcases the importance of Google Earth. Dev Patel’s performance is absolutely heart-wrenching.
Don’t miss it!
Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)
Directed by: Bryan Singer
“We Will Rock You!” — have you heard this song? Of course! Every one of us has, at least once in our lives. It’s by the legendary rock band Queen, who became instantly world-famous. But their beginnings were unimaginable — full of struggle and determination. They worked hard to achieve their dreams, and this film captures that beautifully. Add it to your weekend bucket list.
Don’t miss it!
See you next time...!
